IMPULSE ART by PONTET

‘Impulse Art’ is a live performance where the rhythm of music inspires artist Daniel Pontet to paint with his feet and hands. It is the type of event that grew out of the Action Painting circles, a movement born in the decade of the 1950s that revolutionized the concept of art. Painters no longer approached their canvas with a set image in mind; it is an interaction between the artist and whatever the material may be before the individual's hands or feet. From this encounter derives an image, a sort of residue -the finished painting- and the canvas becomes just a witness of this moment. In this new redefinition, art is seen as an act rather than a product or an object.

IMPULSE ART @ DANIA BEACH ARTS & SEAFOOD CELEBRATION

Yesterday (March 29) we performed 'IMPULSE ART' -Fusion of Music & painting- at one of the greatest annual event in Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Celebration. I painted with my feet, inspired by the rhythm of drumming along with my friends Jeffrey Lee, Adrian Jones, and Evan Kline from Resurrection Drums. Guests: Diego Fuica Leicht and Gabriel Tito.

The Award-winning multimedia artist Daniel Pontet has ignited South Florida’s cultural scene with his paintings, caricatures, political cartoons, and illustrations for the past 20 years. Pontet has exhibited his artworks since 1975. He has participated in more than 100 art shows, including numerous workshops, and art performances. With his painting, ‘The Green Miami,’ he brought home first prize in the Miami division of the national ‘2004 Hispanic Mural Program’ sponsored by Heineken. Pontet has also been awarded a variety of national and international prizes and acknowledgements. In 2010, Fusionarte Association named him one of the ‘Top 100 Latinos in Miami.’
